We built a new raised patio area in Outwell using Bradstone Sunset Buff Indian sandstone, laid in a random mixed-size pattern and jointed with buff EASYJoint. To create the raised level next to the house, the area was retained with a course of brickwork, and photos show a mini-digger used to strip out and prepare the ground beforehand. This combined some groundwork and brickwork with the new paving to bring the garden up to a comfortable, usable height by the conservatory.
The finished patio has a warm, mellow look, with the sunset buff sandstone running through soft browns, golds and greys that sit naturally against the red brick of the house. The retaining brick edge gives the raised area a clean, deliberate finish where it meets the lawn. The result is a level, generous terrace that makes the most of the space right outside the conservatory doors.
