Garden Escape | Watton, Norfolk

What was done

Set within a mature, fully planted garden in Watton, complete with an established pond, this project added a generous sawn buff sandstone patio just off the rear doors. The team worked carefully around the existing borders and pond to lay the natural stone slabs in a mixed-size random pattern, with a smaller rounded section of matching sandstone bedded in beside the water feature. The new patio links the house to the garden without disturbing the planting that was already there, making the most of a well-loved outdoor space.

The finished look

The finished patio has real depth of character. The sawn buff sandstone shifts through soft browns, golds and grey tones, and because no two slabs are alike the surface reads differently dry and wet, the colours deepening richly after rain. Framed by lush planting, climbing flowers on the brick walls and the nearby pond, the paving feels like a natural extension of the garden rather than an addition. A relaxed, characterful spot to sit and enjoy a thoughtfully landscaped garden.
