This job replaced an old, weathered timber deck that had become slippery underfoot. We lifted the decking and installed a new patio in Autumn Brown Indian sandstone, laid in a random mixed-size pattern up to the house and conservatory. A neat brick step was built to bridge the level change at the doors, and the patio was finished with a charcoal paviour border that runs along the lawn edge. The result is a solid, even surface in place of the old decking-style area.
The finished sandstone patio brings real warmth to the back of the house, with rich autumn browns, soft greys and hints of plum across the slabs. The dark charcoal paviour border crisply defines the edge against the grass and gravel, while the brick step ties the new paving neatly into the brickwork and doorways. It is a safe, practical and good-looking space that suits family use far better than the slippery deck it replaced.
